This Shipping & Delivery Policy outlines how deliveries are managed for orders placed with Canberra Sand & Gravel (CSG). By placing an order through our website, you acknowledge and agree to this policy and our Standard Conditions of Sale & Delivery, which form part of the contract of sale.
1. Delivery Area
CSG delivers to selected areas within the ACT and surrounding regions. Delivery availability, pricing and scheduling will be calculated at checkout based on your delivery address and order type.
If your address falls outside our standard delivery zones, please contact us prior to ordering.
2. Delivery Method and Kerbside Delivery
All deliveries are made on a kerbside delivery basis only at the address provided at checkout.
This means:
- Delivery vehicles will unload at the kerbside or nearest safe and legal location accessible from the road.
- CSG does not guarantee placement of materials beyond the kerbside, including driveways, gardens, footpaths or private property.
3. Crossing the Kerbside (Customer Responsibility)
If, for the convenience of the customer, their agent or subcontractor, a delivery vehicle is directed or permitted to cross the kerbside and enter private property:
- All risk transfers to the customer, their agent or subcontractor.
- Any damage or injury to property, infrastructure, landscaping, vehicles or persons is the sole responsibility of the customer, whether arising from ground conditions, access constraints, vehicle movement, driver actions, negligence or otherwise.
CSG accepts no liability for damage once a vehicle crosses the kerbside at the customer’s request or direction.
4. Tipping Location and Driver Discretion
- The nominated tipping location must be safe, accessible, and suitable for the delivery vehicle.
- If the tipping location is not on the kerbside, CSG cannot guarantee that tipping can be completed safely.
- The final decision to tip at any location rests solely with the delivery driver, based on safety, access, vehicle capability and site conditions.
If the driver determines that tipping is unsafe or not possible, the load may not be tipped.
5. Customer Availability at Time of Delivery
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that:
- Clear access is available at the delivery address.
- Accurate delivery instructions are provided at checkout.
- Someone is contactable at the time of delivery if required.
If we are unable to tip at the specified location and the customer is not contactable, the load will be returned to depot and a new delivery fee will be charged to reattempt delivery.
6. Failed or Reattempted Deliveries
Additional charges may apply if delivery cannot be completed due to:
- Unsafe or inaccessible tipping location
- Incorrect or incomplete address details
- Obstructions such as parked vehicles, low branches or overhead wires
- Customer unavailability
- Site conditions unsuitable for delivery vehicles
Any re-delivery will be treated as a new delivery and charged accordingly.
7. Delivery Timeframes
- Delivery dates provided at checkout or during order confirmation are estimates only.
- Delivery times may vary due to weather, traffic conditions, vehicle availability or operational requirements.
- CSG will make reasonable efforts to meet estimated delivery timeframes but does not guarantee specific delivery times.
8. Inspection of Goods
Customers are encouraged to inspect delivered materials as soon as practicable after delivery.
Any issues relating to incorrect or damaged goods must be reported to CSG within 48 hrs in accordance with our Refund Policy. Any material which is subject to inspection must be retained in stockpile and not moved and placed.
